New 19th Air Force commander visits 33rd Fighter Wing Published Aug. 27, 2015 By By Senior Airman Andrea Posey 33rd Fighter Wing Public Affairs 8/24/2015 – EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- -- Maj. Gen. James Hecker, 19th Air Force commander, visited the 33rd Fighter Wing Aug. 19, 2015 to gain insight about major training programs and updates on the progress of the F-35 mission here. During the visit, Hecker outlined how the 33 FW’s mission fit into the 19th AF’s priority to train and educate the world’s finest Airmen to deliver airpower to America and to foster a climate of professional, respectful and supportive Airmen who take care of their wingmen and families. “What you do [here] will make a difference,” said Hecker. “It’s vitally important and going to set the precedence for the entire F-35 community.” As a strategy to accomplish these priorities Hecker reemphasized some of the principles of Comprehensive Airman Fitness’ to demonstrate how maintaining a balance in all areas of life lends to maximal effectiveness and mission success. At the end of the All Call, Hecker took a variety of questions from Airmen covering topics from training updates, pending changes to the Air Force’s compensation package and the future of the F-35 program. Concluding the All Call, Hecker asked the Airmen of the 33 FW a question. “What is your story going to be when your grandchildren ask you about your time at Eglin AFB and what you did to bring on the F-35?” asked Hecker. “You’re going to build your story over the next few years here. Make sure you build one you’re proud of.”
