MAXWELL-GUNTER AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. – U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Kelly O'Reilly, a flight engineer from B Company, 1st Battalion, 223rd Aviation Regiment at Fort Rucker, Ala., explains to Maxwell Air Force Base Airmen how to conduct safe sling load operations. A three man CH-47 Chinook helicopter crew from Fort Rucker conducted a joint military helicopter training exercise at Maxwell on in January 2009. As the host unit for Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, the 42nd Air Base Wing's mission is critical to national security; it provides the foundation for success for Air University, the intellectual and leadership center of the Air Force; the 908th Airlift Wing; the 754th Electronic Systems Group; and more than 30 tenant units.
