A Look Inside AETC

ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Senior Airman Joshua Newbrey, base security forces, trains Asko, a K-9 unit German Sheppard, at the Altus AFB obstacle course in May 2009. The objective is to teach the police dog controlled aggression by simulating obstacles for the dog to maneuver through and overcome. The 97th Air Mobility Wing is responsible for the formal training of all C-17 and KC-135 for active duty, Guard and Reserve aircrews. The wing’s world-class instructors receive students from Undergraduate Pilot Training, the Basic Boom Operator Course, and Basic Loadmaster course, and train them to operate C-17 and KC-135 aircraft in combat as well as other worldwide contingencies.
