Pilot's legacy continues with posthumous master's degree

An chair draped with a graduation hood holds two roses in honor of the late Maj. Brad Funk, an instructor pilot at the 80th Flying Training Wing who was killed during a training mission May 1 at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. The open-bloom rose on the left signifies the accomplishments of Major Funk during his lifetime, while the closed-bloom rose symbolizes what he had yet to accomplish. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University posthumously awarded Major Funk a master's degree in aeronautical engineering. (U.S. Air Force photo/Lt. Col. Ternell Washington)
