Officer Jeff Button, 82nd Security Forces Squadron civilian police officer, was the first on scene during a real world active shooter scenario April 24, 2014, at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. While the cause of the sound was eventually confirmed to be a construction jackhammer, and not gunfire, law enforcement personnel still responded to the scene initially unaware of what the source of the sound was.
