Memory Lane: Randolph assumed B-29 combat aircrew training role 63 years ago
Sixty-three years ago this month, about six months after the outbreak of the Korean War, the first six B-29 combat crews trained at the former Randolph Air Force Base graduated. B-29 combat crew training began at Randolph during the Truman administration and concluded in 1956, the final year of then President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s first term. In that time, more than 21,500 crew members had been trained. (Courstesy photo)
