This archived photo shows then-Senior Airman Steven R. Doty, 8th Fighter Wing Public Affairs, interviewing retired Col. Bernard Fisher. Fisher and his wingman, Maj. Wayne Myers, ignored low clouds and repeatedly strafed the enemy with their A-1E Skyraiders. During one pass, Myers' aircraft was hit and caught fire and too low to bailout, Myers crash-landed his aircraft on the small and heavily damaged airstrip at the special forces camp and ran to cover alongside the runway.
