F-35A Lightning IIs display air superiority
F-35A Lightning IIs assigned to the 62nd Fighter Squadron takeoff April 2, 2020, at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz. The F-35 is the U.S. Air Force’s newest fifth-generation fighter jet and has more than 43,000 pounds of thrust. Since implementing preventative health measures for Coronavirus Disease 2019, the base has reduced flying hours and implemented minimum manning measures to maximize health precautions. While flying training operations at Luke continue in support of national security objectives, the preventative health measures are designed protect personnel while balancing the Department of Defense’s sustained requirement for trained pilots.
