Egress specialists maintain escape systems
Tech. Sgt. Justin Fromm, 56th Component Maintenance Squadron egress systems craftsman, inspects an F-35A Lightning II canopy May 29, 2020, at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz. When a pilot ejects from an F-35, small explosives mounted on the aircraft’s canopy detonate and separate the canopy before the seat departs the aircraft. Egress specialists perform inspections and maintenance on F-35 and F-16 Fighting Falcon canopies and egress systems to ensure the components function properly in flight and during emergencies.
