2nd Lt. Joshua Patton, a member of the 80th Flying Training Wing Flight Safety Office "Bird Dawgs," monitors the skies over the Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, airfield Nov. 5, 2020. The Flight Safety Office was awarded the Air Education and Training Command General Frank Lahm Trophy, a recognition given to the most effective flight safety program in the command in 2020. Among the section's achievements include a reduction of bird strikes on aircraft by 35 percent as well as a 33 percent reduction of near mid-air collisions, among others.
