Air Education and Training Command’s enlisted Airmen inducted Gen. Anthony Cotton commander of U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command and Air Forces Strategic-Air, U.S. Strategic Command, into AETC’s Order of the Sword with a ceremony April 1, 2022, at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. Cotton was the Air University commander and president February 2018-October 2019. The Order of the Sword is the highest honor and tribute that NCOs can bestow upon an individual and is patterned after two orders of chivalry founded during the Middle Ages in Europe, The Royal Order of the Sword and the Swedish Military Order of the Sword.
