Retired U.S. Army Air Forces Chief Master Sgt. Mel Jenner, 452nd Bomber Group radio operator, stands in a replica of a D-Day bunker at the National World War II Museum, New Orleans, Louisiana, Sept. 14, 2022. Jenner flew over Normandy Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He began his 26 year military career by training as a radio operator at what was then known as Keesler Army Airfield.
