Mitchell assumes command of UFT
Senior Master Sgt. Tainell Pettengill (right), 340th Flying Training Group Undergraduate Flying Training superintendent, passes the ceremonial UFT baton after Lt. Col. David Mitchell assumed command of the unit on Feb. 15, 2023, at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. Mitchell is now responsible for the overall success of the official flying training program of the Air Force Reserve, supporting the Air Force's total-force effort to select and train high-quality rated, flying officers and all pipeline students entering Basic Military Training and applicable follow-on courses required to become qualified Career Enlisted Aviators.
