11th Annual Blood, Sweat and Stairs: Honoring 9/11 First Responders

U.S. Army Pvt. 2nd Class Caden Scruggs, 312th Training Squadron student, poses for a photo after he completed the final race of the combat challenge during the Blood, Sweat and Stairs event at the Louis F. Garland Department of Defense Fire Academy, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas, Sept. 9, 2023. Scruggs competed on the Army Wolf Pups team against the U.S. Air Force War Hammers team for the championship title. Students and instructors faced off in timed endurance and strength challenges through multiple rounds competing as teams of five throughout the day; these challenges simulated different abilities firefighters must have when participating in rescue operations such as the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
