Maj. Korey Kasper, 37th Training Wing Human Performance Squadron sports medicine physician, poses for a photo at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, March 1, 2023. Between 2012 and 2014 the 37th TRW embedded athletic trainers in basic military training and found that treating injuries within the squadron saved the Air Force nearly $11 million and drastically reduced the amount of trainees not completing BMT due to musculoskeletal injuries. This paved the way for pilot programs like the Human Performance Squadron and the implementation of the VIPER Clinic. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Janiqua P. Robinson)
