A U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft assigned to the 309th Fighter Squadron and F-35A Lightning II’s assigned to the 61st Fighter Squadron, fly in formation, Jan. 19, 2024, over Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. The F-35A is the U.S. Air Force’s latest fifth-generation fighter, set to replace the U.S. Air Force’s aging fleet of F-16 Fighting Falcons and A-10 Thunderbolt II’s, which have been the primary fighter aircraft for more than 20 years. Flying operations at Luke AFB contribute to advancing training, producing mission command focused U.S., allied and partner Airmen to meet warfighter needs.
