U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Randy Oakland, Joint Base San Antonio and 502nd Air Base Wing incoming commander, renders a first salute during the 502nd ABW change of command ceremony at JBSA-Randolph, Texas, July 31, 2024. Oakland was the operations and communications director at Headquarters Air Education and Training Command prior to assuming command of the 502nd ABW. He completed operational experiences in Operations Northern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, and New Dawn, and earned the rating of command pilot with more than 2,600 flight hours. Joint Base San Antonio performs 49 installation support functions across 11 geographically distinct locations to enable the largest joint base in the Department of Defense, consisting of more than 250 mission partners, 80,000 full-time personnel, and a local community of more than 250,000 retirees.(U.S. Air Force photo by Tristin English)
