  • Department of War releases 2026 Basic Allowance for Housing rates

    The Department of War released the 2026 basic allowance for housing rates Dec. 11. The basic allowance for housing rates will increase by an average of 4.2 percent, and an estimated $29.9 billion will be paid to approximately one million service members. The new rates will take effect Jan. 1, 2026.

    The Department of Defense has released the 2021 Basic Allowance for Housing rates. Basic Allowance for Housing rates will increase an average of 2.9 percent when the new rates take effect Jan. 1, 2021. An estimated $23 billion will be paid to approximately one million service members.
