  • Holm Center’s ‘Purple’ summer project

    As a former “foreign kid” in Brazil’s National War College, I was challenged with learning and operating in a language not of my own. I experienced the very real fear that my intellect would be surmised from my inability to smoothly converse, convince and direct others in Portuguese. These are the same challenges many of our Air Force ROTC cadets experience when English is their second language.
  • Air Force ROTC Field Training commander converses on challenges, cadets and the camp

    Mandated by Congress to help develop the next generation of Air Force and Space Force leaders, Air Force ROTC Field Training is an annual, summertime 16-day, four-phase program. The curriculum includes, among other things, academic exams, flight drill evaluations, land navigation, tactical combat casualty care, small unit tactics and operating in a deployed environment. It is geared toward cadets typically in between their sophomore and junior years who will be transitioning to leadership positions at their respective detachments.

    Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps cadre and 34 cadet training assistants visited three museums in Montgomery, Alabama, July 17, 2020, to educate themselves on the history of social injustices and racial discord.
  • Minority Serving Institution Scholarships to be upgraded to further Air, Space Force diversity efforts

    The Type 1 scholarship covers full tuition and fees with no monetary cap. The other scholarship opportunities include Type 2 scholarships which provide a student up to $18,000 per year, and the Type 7 scholarships which offer full tuition and fees, capped at the in-state tuition rate.
