    At 18 years old, all Charles Boynton knew was that he wanted to fly. He was infatuated with the thrill and limitless feeling of the sky, but a testicular cancer diagnosis in 2018 threatened to shoot down those dreams. More than two years later, he's set to soar again after surviving his cancer and receiving a medical waiver to fly.

    A new aircraft arrived here Oct. 19, 2020, that will provide some much-needed firepower and an advanced training platform for armament and crew chief Airmen in Training in the near future. The AC-130W Stinger II from Cannon AFB, New Mexico, will serve as a new ground instructional trainer for ammo and armament students in the 363rd TRS as well as crew chief students in the 362nd TRS.
  • Sheppard student soars through avionics course, earns ACE award

    Airman 1st Class Angelica Julie Aquino, a 365th Training Squadron graduate earned the ACE award for achieving a 100 percent average throughout the 75-academic day, nine-block course.

  • Doolittle Jr. strives to make own mark in Air Force

    Airman 1st Class John Taylor Doolittle Jr., a distant relative of the Air Force legend, graduated Sept. 3, 2020 from the 362nd Training Squadron’s F-16 Fighting Falcon crew chief apprentice course here. He is looking to make his own mark in military service as an aircraft maintainer, much like the Army Air Corps and Sheppard-trained mechanics who maintained B-25s used in the Doolittle Raid eight decades ago.
