  • 'The Translator' shines in EOC logistics, transportation role

    In late February, as the COVID-19 pandemic began to take a stronger foothold in the United States, 2nd Lt. Himanshu Chopra, the 502nd Logistics Readiness Squadron's flight commander of material management, began manning the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Emergency Operations Center as Emergency Support Function 1/7, working logistics and transportation.
  • LRS installs plexiglass shields to prevent spread of COVID-19

    Back on March 17, Joint Base San Antonio logistics personnel installed plexiglass shields in the area surrounding the driver’s seat of vans transporting service members and eligible Department of Defense ID cardholders around JBSA bases. In addition, as of April 1, all 22-passenger surrey buses also had plexiglass installed to shield the drivers. The plexiglass replaces plastic shields, forming a more protective barrier against the spread of COVID-19.
  • JBSA ground transportation adapts to fight COVID-19

    Joint Base San Antonio installations have begun segregating buses by health status to contain the spread of COVID-19 and ensure that the JBSA community stays healthy. As of March 21, all buses on any of the bases will be labeled either green, yellow, or red, to denote who can and cannot ride in which vehicles.

Many Airmen come to Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland as formal technical training instructors; however, few earn the designation of master instructor – the highest honor Air Education and Training Command bestows on instructors.
  • DLIELC MTT support to Southeast Asia moves forward

    JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas -- The Defense Language Institute English Language Center re-engaged its support of the Indo-Pacific strategy in early April 2021 by deploying Mobile Training Teams to the Vietnam Ministry of National Defense Center for Student Management and Advanced Officer Training (Unit 871) in Hanoi, and the Royal Thai Military Academies and Language Institutes in Bangkok, Thailand.
  • U.S. Space Force achieves another milestone at Basic Military Training

    Another U.S. Space Force milestone was reached May 6 when the first all-Guardian flight graduated from Basic Military Training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. The 31 men in Flight 429 and four women in Flight 430 were assigned to the 324th Training Squadron and were among the 571 recruits who completed 7 1/2 weeks of training.

  • IAAFA graduates 59 students from U.S., international partners

    JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas --Approximately 150 members of the Inter-American Air Forces Academy and distinguished guests gathered at a graduation for nearly 60 students from partner nations and the U.S. Air Force here April 15. Colombian Army Brig. Gen. Eric Rodriguez, U.S. Southern Command Director J7/9 Exercises and Coalition, served as guest speaker for the event.
