SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Aircraft flight decks, where pilots operate the flying machinery, are full of complicating devices from the numerous dials, knobs, indicators and gyros of the instrument panel to the mechanisms used to steer them.
Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Ashlyn Schneider, a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, graduated from the 365th Training Squadron’s instrument and flight control system apprentice course at Sheppard AFB Aug. 30, 2018, earning the ace student award after completing the course with perfect scores on all of the exams.
Schneider and other airmen in the 95-day course learned about basic maintenance fundamentals of instruments and flight controls, inspection of the equipment, troubleshooting, removal, repair and installation of the systems.
