MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- The Air University Library and AU Press hosted the first AU Research Roundtable at the Muir S. Fairchild Research Information Center Oct. 11.
Six faculty participated on the panel to discuss publications they’d authored and talk through the process for getting a paper or book published.
“This event is part of a continued effort to use our institutions such as the Library, AU Press and the Teaching and Learning Center to bring people together and share the knowledge that is generated right here at Maxwell,” said Dr. Mehmed Ali, director of the MSFRIC.
The participants included Col. Jeffrey Donnithorne, AU Chief Academic Officer, author of “Four Guardians – A Principled View of American Civil-Military Relations;” Dr. Filomeno Arenas and Dr. Daniel Connelly, Air Command and Staff College faculty, authors of “Developing Your Full Range of Leadership – Leveraging a Transformational Approach;” Dr. Forrest Marion, Air Force Historical Research Agency, author of “Brothers in Berets: The Evolution of Air Force Special Tactics, 1953 to 2003;” Col. Jeremy Weber, Judge Advocate General’s School, author of “What Happened to Military Good Order and Discipline;” and Dr. William Waddell, Air War College, author of “In the Year of the Tiger – The War for Chochinachina, 1945 to 1951.”
The roundtable offered an informal and conversational setting for the audience and panelists to discuss historical and current topics, and generate dialogue across AU to deliver the best development opportunities, said Ali.
“This was great in bringing so many different strands of thought around the University all together in one forum,” said Maj. Christian Lowry, LeMay Center chief of strategic innovation. “I now have to make time to read all five of these publications.”
The books and articles presented during the roundtable are available at the AU Library, with two books available in the AU Press Bookstore, and the presentation will is available to view on the Library’s vBrick channel.
