GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Goodfellow members and San Angelo community leaders celebrated individuals who earned their associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force at the base theater here, June 21.
The CCAF is a federally-chartered academic institution that serves the U.S. Air Force’s enlisted total force. The college annually awards over 22,000 associate in applied science degrees from 71 degree programs. The vision of the college is to provide a path to higher learning for those with a calling to serve.
Chief Master Sgt. Shae Gee, 17th Mission Support Group superintendent, spoke about her experiences and mentoring she received to continue her education during her career at the commencement ceremony.
“Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out,” said Gee. “Every decision you make matters.”
The college’s mission is to offer and award job-related associate degrees in applied sciences and other academic credentials that enhance mission readiness, contribute to recruiting, assist in retention, and support the career transitions and professional growth of the Air Force enlisted corps.
Col. Tony England, 17th MSG commander, closed the ceremony with some words of wisdom and encouragement for the graduates.
“I am a recipient of a Community College of the Air Force degree,” said England. “But, I didn’t stop there. It kick started me. It got me excited. So I challenge you to display this degree so you can encourage others the way that I was encouraged.”
