LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Senior Airman John Morse, a 47th Flying Training Wing command and control operations technician, was chosen by wing leadership to be the “XLer of the week” of Sept. 9, 2019 at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas.
Morse restored the command post SharePoint site, streamlined commander operational report training, linked a scheduling and sign-up too and reduced man hours by 50 percent.
“We had a SharePoint that was very out of date and had no recent information on it,” said Technical Sgt. David Jeffcoat, the 47th Flying Training Wing command post NCO in charge of command and control operations. “He took it upon himself to locate who to get training from on how to make changes and then redesigned the site to be forward thinking and allow us to upload our training to the SharePoint.”
Morse also revitalized the dormant Information Technology Equipment Custodian program, completing a nine hour Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office equipment move transferring 44 obsolete items worth around $11,900 and prepared the area for a command and control system upgrade.
“After he was placed in charge of the command post ITEC, one of the first things he introduced to was a closet of old equipment that the previous custodian had been trying to get rid of for over a year,” Jeffcoat said. “Within a couple of weeks he had what he needed to make it happen and a week or so after that it was all turned in. It took him only three weeks to do what the previous equipment custodian had been trying to do for over a year.”
Morse has earned this “XLer of the Week” for renovating his unit’s SharePoint site and taking his unit’s previously inactive ITEC position and bringing it back up to speed.
