GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Senior Airman Adan Ramirez, 17th Medical Group aerospace medical technician, received the September Medic of the Month Award for exceeding his leadership’s expectations. Ramirez took matters into his own hands and created a useful tool for training. As an aerospace medical technician he assists doctors and cares for patients in many ways. From giving shots to assisting in aeromedical evacuations, his job is critical to the MDG.
What led you to join the military?
I joined the military to become a part of something bigger than myself, to help protect my loved ones.
What has been the most impactful moment in your career so far?
As a medic, the most impactful thing to me is seeing such a huge change from a sick patient to getting back into the fight. The greater the recovery, the more impact it has on myself and the team I work with.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy listening to music and playing guitar. Traveling is a big thing for me. Learning about different cultures, trying new foods, and hearing new music.
What do you want to accomplish during your time here at Goodfellow Air Force Base?
I would say it’s the same as anyone else. Try to leave this place better than it was before I got here.
What has been the most meaningful experience you have had on Goodfellow?
Without a doubt, the people and the relationships that I have, made Goodfellow a place I will not forget.
Is there any advice or anything you would like to share?
Always have an open mind. Show that you care about the things that you do whether you want to do it or not. Having that mindset is what sets you apart. Do good, die great.
