KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. – The New Mexico Air National Guard’s 150th Maintenance Squadron earned distinction as the 2019 New Mexico State Outstanding Unit. Maj. Gen. Kenneth Nava, the Adjutant General of New Mexico, presented the award to the unit during a May 1, 2021, ceremony here.
“In 2019, maintenance recorded a record number of sorties and graduated record numbers of pilots from the PFT (program flying training) schoolhouse of the 58th and 150th (Special Operation Wings),” said Lt. Col. John Scott, 150th Maintenance Group Commander.
In 2010, the 150th SOW and 58th SOW began Total Force Integration. A decade later, the two wings continue to work together for the benefit of the U.S. Air Force.
“Earning this award is important because we are full contributors to the TFI,” Scott said. “It's important to make sure we’re recognizing our folks for over 100,000 hours of maintenance we provide to the Air Force mission every year.”
The maintenance team has improved even more in 2020, Scott said. Maintenance kept a record-setting pace of sorties while keeping a COVID safe work environment.
“This was an accomplishment of my predecessor, Col. Reginald Clark, and his team,” Scott said. “I inherited a tremendous team that continues to work hard and contribute to the Air Force mission, but I also want to make sure the folks that used to be down here also get the proper recognition.”
