KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- There are many moving parts that we don’t think about when it comes to accomplishing the 81st Training Wing’s mission. One of those moving parts is the 81st Logistics Readiness Squadron.
The squadron is made up of five entities; transportation, supply, fuel, vehicle maintenance, and logistic plans.
“It’s a phenomenal effort to take and identify what needs to go, where it needs to go and when it needs to go, then make that happen,” said Walter DeClue, 81st LRS installation deployment officer. “I’m a planner and executor, but you can’t do it all by yourself. Together, it truly is a team effort.”
One of the primary focuses of LRS is moving the fight by enabling excellence through logistics.
“Monitoring the readiness of each unit is a big part of what we do,” said Senior Airman Kaylahn Dargan-Wiliams, 81st LRS logistics plans journeyman. “We make sure everyone is prepared by staying on top of training such as Combat Arms and Maintenance, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and high yield explosives, and Tactical Combat Casualty Care, formerly known as Self Aid Buddy Care Training.”
DeClue said LRS is constantly evolving and there is a very diverse populace that makes up the organization.
“We come from all walks of life, bringing our own thoughts, beliefs and way of doing things into the mix,” said DeClue. “To blend that all together and come up with a cohesive team is a challenge and it’s remarkable that our command chief and wing commander are able to do that. Resiliency is truly a way of life- not just here in the 81st LRS, but in the Air Force as a whole.”
