JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO- LACKLAND, Texas – The Master Military Training Leader Competition recognized two superior 37th Training Group MTLs in October.
Tech. Sgt. Isaac James and Tech. Sgt. Alisha Blair from the 343rd Training Squadron received their aiguillettes during the Master MTL ceremony, showcasing their expertise and professional growth.
Their display of performance, ethics and leadership went above Air Education and Training Command’s minimum training and performance requirements. This alone allowed them to compete in the three-phase competition to attain Master MTL recognition.
Blair was initially unsure of participating in the competition, but stepped out of her comfort zone to compete. She encourages fellow Airmen to “Just go for it. Even if you’re not feeling it, go for it anyway.”
The program consists of three phases, beginning with an administrative review for eligibility. Phase two of the competition requires candidates to pass a knowledge exam. In the third phase, Airmen must pass evaluations for the transitory drill, open ranks, room inspections, physical training session, and delivery of a professional development session to non-prior service Airmen.
The 37th TRG Military Training Support Flight oversees the annual program, which “helps recognize the abilities of those who go above and beyond while honing the skills it takes to be an impactful, capable and useful Military Training Leader for our Airmen,” said Tech. Sgt. Morgan Grebens, Master MTL Administrator.
Phase three of the competition began Oct. 25 and concluded with the Master MTL ceremony Oct. 29. Col. Joyce Storm, 37th TRG commander, honored the instructors for their exceptional accomplishments with the presentation of their new distinctive mixed royal blue and navy blue aiguillette.
