MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- The Air Force Surgeon General’s director of Manpower, Personnel and Resources and chief of the Medical Service Corps received a mission brief and toured the 42nd Medical Group at Maxwell AFB on March 16, 2022.
Brig. Gen. Alfred K. Flowers, Jr. spent the day learning about current medical operations and capabilities at the medical group. The staff also shared lessons from their experience dealing with COVID-19 management and the vaccine rollout, and key clinical initiatives to enhance the patient-care experience for Maxwell-Gunter beneficiaries. Some additional areas highlighted included the mental health clinic, medical logistics, group practice management and the TRICARE Operations Center.
“The 42nd Medical Group’s focus on improving care for all of their beneficiaries and supporting the U.S Air Force’s readiness is evident in 42nd Air Base Wing’s mantra of ‘Just Do It Right’ and cultivating an environment of excellence,” said Flowers.
Flowers addressed key topics ranging from Air Force priorities, advances in medical technology, and mission readiness. He expressed the importance of having Airmen trained and ready for duty.
During the visit, Flowers witnessed the enthusiasm of several medics receiving coins for their outstanding performance. He also participated in an MSC discussion forum and viewed corps officers’ sharing individual “My Story” presentations.
The 42nd MDG continues its mission of providing trusted care to support training and education while enhancing human performance for all beneficiaries.
