MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala.-- The Community College of the Air Force received a signed commendation certificate for their 50th anniversary from the governor of Alabama, Feb. 28, 2022.
The commendation was the first of many events celebrating the 50th anniversary coming up throughout April 2022.
“CCAF, the largest community college in the world, is lucky to have such a strong partnership with the State of Alabama,” said Lt. Col. Kevin Pond, CCAF commander and commandant. “Receiving a commendation from Gov. Ivey really drives home the support we have from the state while highlighting the importance of education in enabling the success in life and work of our service members.”
The CCAF, established Apr. 1, 1972, recognized a need to enhance the skills of noncommissioned officers. This long standing commitment to excellence through education has awarded more than 580,000 associates in applied science degrees.
The CCAF program has provided technical education, core general education from higher education institutions that are regionally accredited, and management education.
“It is through senior leader support, like that provided by the Air University Commander and Command Chief and that of our elected officials that CCAF is able to help Airmen across the Air Force achieve their educational goals, while serving our great nation,” said Pond.
