12th Flying Training Wing

The 12th Flying Training Wing, headquartered at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, develops the next generation of Air Force aviators and enlisted aircrew by providing world-class flying training and education. The wing trains Airmen in the fundamentals of airmanship, instruction and leadership, preparing them for success in operational units across the Air Force. Through undergraduate Combat Systems Officer training, Pilot Instructor Training, Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals, Remotely Piloted Aircraft pilot indoctrination, enlisted aviator training, and other specialized programs, the 12th FTW produces skilled, adaptable, and combat-ready professionals capable of meeting the demands of today's complex operating environment while strengthening the future of American airpower.

Digital badging proof of concept tests successfully in myLearning

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas – A successful digital badging capability proof of concept residing inside of myLearning was completed in early August as part of the learning services ecosystem’s Phase III rollout, Air Education and Training Command officials announced here Aug. 13.

Using the Human Relations 101 course as test case, the HQ AETC/A3G Learning Services Team configured a digital badge to be visible in the learner's profile upon course completion, and a retroactive badge was issued to those who completed the course prior to activation.

"This is another leap forward in deliberately advancing force development across the Air Force in line with CSAF Action Order-Airmen," said Floyd A. McKinney, AETC Learning Services Operations division chief. "This provides a future opportunity for course owners to set individual requirements that can build upon one another to provide a varying series of badges (e.g., apprentice, journeyman, craftsman, and master) by mastering additional training courses."

Digital badges are an indicator of accomplishment or skill and earned by completing a course or series of courses. The goal is for digital badges to be viewable on the member's profile page and, in a future update, on the member's myLearning dashboard, McKinney said.

“This capability moves myLearning closer to providing an alternative credential to a course certificate or transcript, which transfers an understanding of skill and competency to private sector industry, partners, or higher education opportunities,” McKinney said.

This effort also represents an important step in the Command's larger digital credentialing efforts and the expectation is to see additional badges awarded as AETC partners with course owners from across the Air Force, McKinney emphasized.

myLearning debuted as a modern and interactive solution in March, 2021, and replaced training modules previously found on the Advanced Distributed Learning Service (ADLS). If you are experiencing technical difficulties with the site or have feedback for the development team, submit a ticket to the

Public Affairs Information

Tours of the 12th Flying Training Wing are provided to various community organizations, high schools, businesses, and academic military recruitment programs to educate their members about the 12th FTW mission.

Due to the high volume of requests and limited public affairs resources, tours and static displays are limited.

Please submit all requests in writing to the 12th FTW Public Affairs by email to 12ftw.pa.1@us.af.mil at least three weeks but no more than six weeks in advance. You may also call 210-652-1272.

Tours are not available on weekends and may be cancelled at any time because of increased security measures or mission requirements. The 12th FTW does not host tours of Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph at-large. To schedule a tour of JBSA-Randolph, please contact JBSA-Randolph Public Affairs at 502abw.pa.official@us.af.mil or dial 210-652-4410.

If desired, requestors must arrange all meals. PA will provide contact information to base eateries. Modified tours will be granted for those with limited mobility - this must be stated on the tour request. If not stated, it is assumed that mobility is not an issue.
