KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- As part of the Second Air Force commander’s priority to advance force development across the entire service, the Air Force Career Development Academy (AFCDA) officially implemented Career Development Course (CDC) 2R151 Edit Code M-01, Maintenance Management Production Journeyman Aug. 1. This course is the first modernized CDC with student-centric, self-paced, mobile-responsive, interactive course-ware that provides an innovative and efficient delivery model for CDCs with a focus on transforming how Airmen learn.
In early May, AFCDA began the beta testing for the course. AFCDA strives to develop training that bridges fundamental knowledge with real-world tasks through practical application. AFCDA is redefining upgrade training by forging an environment that cultivates the proficient, professional, expert Airmen needed for the future fight using interactive multimedia and mixing learning modalities.

"To ensure that our Airmen and Guardians are prepared for tomorrow’s fight today, we will enhance the way we train our professionals. The CDC modernization efforts will not only accelerate the method in which our professionals become fully operational; it will vastly improve their overall capabilities.”
The course provides the necessary information needed for upgrade to the 5-skill level, Maintenance Management Production Journeyman. Airmen build upon the ideologies and practices they learned in the Apprenticeship Course to further develop their technical and professional skills. In module one, the student will learn maintenance familiarization, as well as maintenance structure and concepts. Module two covers inspections, Air Force publications and technical orders (TO). Module three includes the TO Systems, time compliance technical orders (TCTO) and time changes. With module four, the learner is introduced to engine management (EM) systems and multi-tracked equipment transactions. Module five covers plans and scheduling, which discusses first look and annual requirements, programmed depot maintenance, unit type codes (UTC), and plan utilization. The capstone, module six, includes forecasting scheduled maintenance. The course culminates with scenario-based assessments in which the student must select the correct schedule based on scenario inputs.
As of June 23, the multi-factor authentication (MFA) option is available for all users with a common access card (CAC) in myLearning. This capability enables remote access to myLearning training via personal devices and ensures greater accessibility for Guard and Reserve members. The new course also has non-proctored assessments, which is a first for CDCs.
AFCDA achieved this paradigm shift in education and training by developing immersive and interactive online learning experiences through rapid curriculum development and agile curriculum updates. Emphasized on mission focused tasks, strategic viewpoints, performance-based assessments and realistic scenarios, AFCDA endeavors to cultivate competent and confident professionals needed for future operations across the Air Force.
