KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M -- Airmen from Kirtland Air Force Base helped Civil Air Patrol complete an intensive Pararescue and Survival Orientation Course on the installation from June 6-16, 2023.
The Airmen instructed the students from CAP who ranged in age from 15-21 years old. These students came from 28 different states and Puerto Rico, attending the course in the hope to one day enter military service. The course was only one step to better prepare those thinking about their future.
“This program offers cadets the opportunity to look into what it might take to enter the armed services, being taught by those who have made it into the pipeline,” said Maxim Duford, Para Jumper Orientation Course Public Affairs Officer. “Giving them a taste of what it takes to be a Pararescueman, and allowing them to reaffirm that this is the right course for their future. Some decide not to join the armed services, and yet still walk away with skills and experiences that will propel them into whatever future they choose.”
According to Duford, these future leaders of America were taught by the finest service men and women from today, and wanted to personally thank the following individuals for their leadership in instruction: Capt. James Barnard, Senior Airman Conor Whatley, Senior Airman Douglas McMurrain, Senior Airman, Hubert Gonzalez, Senior Airman Jordan Van Allen, Senior Airman Steven Beerman, Technical Sgt. Roman Ramirez and Technical Sgt. Joseph Carnahan.
