ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla.-- 1st Lt. Catherine J. Grimm, 97th Air Mobility Wing judge advocate chief of adverse actions, from Hinsdale, Illinois, recently transitioned into active duty after joining the Air Force ROTC and has a goal of becoming a colonel.
“I absolutely love what I do,” said Grimm. “I love that I get to serve all kinds of clients whether it be Airmen in legal assistance, commanders, or even just administrative work to support the mission.”
Grimm explained her story that led her to serve, which started with writing letters to deployed soldiers as a child.
“I grew up sending letters and care packages to soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq,” she said. “One time I included my email and the soldier wrote back and we talked about what it means to be a hero and it was really inspirational.”
Grimm said her family ties to the service also motivated her to join the Air Force.
“My grandfather was a pilot in World War II and was the first Marauder Man of the Year,” said Grimm. “I admired his patriotism and that even after getting shot down he still looked back on his time fondly.”
Grimm said she wants to serve people to the best of her abilities and continue to serve as long as the Air Force allows because she enjoys her job and helping Airmen.
