JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas -- In today's rapidly evolving world, where technological advancement and dynamic operational environments demand continuous learning and adaptation, officials at Air Education and Training Command are taking massive strides towards a more modern approach to education and training.
To make this major transformation a reality, AETC has the responsibility of delivering digital learning systems and a digital operating environment that accommodates learning across a diverse range of platforms and delivery methods.
“The urgency of this task is driven by the need to empower our Airmen and Guardians with ability to adapt rapidly in today’s era of strategic competition,” said Brig. Gen. Randy Oakland, AETC’s director of Operations and Communications. “We need an advanced digital learning architecture to create a holistic ecosystem that nurtures a culture of continuous learning.”
At the heart of this endeavor lies AETC's digital learning services architecture – a vibrant network comprising individuals, organizations, and systems like myLearning, myTraining and Digital University that ensure smooth collection, processing, dissemination, and utilization of learning services in support of force development.
“By harnessing the potential of our enterprise system within this environment, we are striving to cultivate an atmosphere conducive to the development of highly capable Airmen and Guardians, capable of excelling in complex, multi-domain operational environments,” said Floyd McKinney, AETC Learning Services Division chief. “The Command has set its sight on enterprise-wide digital learning services with a goal of modernizing the way we train Airmen and Guardians.”
AETC's forward-thinking vision for digital learning services through systems signifies a paradigm shift in education and training in this era where learner-centric approaches are increasingly crucial.
“Gone are the days of one-dimensional methods that fail to serve the evolving needs of our force,” McKinney said. “The rapid advancement in technology has opened countless opportunities to enhance the way we teach, learn, and adapt to new threats. Embracing digital learning is not a standalone action but a collective endeavor that involves career field managers, learners, learning professionals, and experts in technology.”
