JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas -- Developmental Special Experiences provide Air and Space Professionals more than just education and training opportunities, they help the service build the Airmen needed for the future high-end fight.
The DSEs, cataloged by Air Education and Training Command’s Force Development Credentialing Division’s DSE branch, are hands-on experiences outside of formal training, established recurring opportunities, a means to gain/increase competencies, and duties typically external to primary AFSCs or job series.
The following DSEs are highlighted this quarter:
Officer: Military Entrance Processing Command (MEPCOM) Director of Operations (DSE0365)
This DSE allows officers to integrate with the DoD accessions triad (Recruit-Assess-Train). Officers will enhance their understanding of personnel oversight, mission autonomy, and resource management within a joint environment. This broadening assignment will also challenge an officer's ability to effectively communicate, demonstrate accountability, show initiative, invoke teamwork, foster innovation, influence teams/outcomes, and demonstrate leadership in a seclusive environment.
The tour will not exceed 2 years. Officers will return to their core AFSC upon completion of the broadening assignment.
Enlisted: Distance Learning PME Student Services Technician (DSE0354)
These positions require current or previous 8T000 qualification and serve as policy managers, instructional systems developers, instructional systems analysts, educational technologists, and student support specialists. Duties include:
- Troubleshooting system/record errors, researching student issues, and advising students across on-line DL for all Enlisted PME
- Assisting in resolving and advising student issues for Officer DL PME
- Reviewing and testing educational materials to ensure currency, relevancy, and accuracy
- Evaluating, analyzing, and monitoring overall effectiveness of these programs
This DSE also offers experience and potential to move into Instructional Systems Design positions in the future.
Civilian: Air Force National Laboratories Technical Fellowship Program (AF NLTFP) (DSE0220)
This DSE provides Air Force civilians the tools necessary to influence a future, flexible and responsible in various specific fields related to nuclear, environmental, energy or cyber career fields.
Open to permanent DAF General Schedule civilians in the grades of GS-12 to GS-15, or EQUIVALENT, with a minimum of two years federal service by the last day of the applicant window. Applicants must have a master’s degree and a Top-Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information Department of Energy Q Clearance, neither of which is waiverable. Professional military education (PME) credit is not awarded. A mobility agreement is not required at the time of application; however, as a part of the CDE process, the Development Team (DT) may require a mobility agreement prior to forwarding nominations to the CDE Board.
