LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 47th Flying Training Wing honored the support and sacrifice of military spouses with their annual Military Spouse Appreciation Day event at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, May 8, 2026.
The event recognized the resolve and resilience of military spouses and reinforced the scope of their direct impact on the 47th FTW’s mission.
“Today is about saying thank you,” said Capt. Hannah Epperson, 47th Force Support Squadron force support officer and Laughlin Spouse’s Day coordinator. “When our service members step out the door, it is your strength that allows them to focus on the mission, knowing the home front is secure. Thank you for your service, your steadfast support and the countless things you do behind the scenes that keep our military running.”
Throughout the day, spouses participated in tours and activities across the wing, including flying T-6A Texan II and T-38C Talon simulators, undergoing aero-physiology training, and visiting the air traffic control tower, maintenance and fire station. Military families were also treated to a health and wellness expo, arts and crafts sessions, cooking classes and numerous fitness activities.
The day concluded with a T-6 Drop Night, where our Team XL spouses’ support is on full display as they stand beside their student pilot and find out where their Air Force journey is headed next.
“Wherever you are, be all there for it,” said Abigail Germain, 47th Student Squadron unit training manager and military spouse. “Enjoy your time here. There’s so many opportunities that come from here if you go out to find them.”
By honoring the military spouses and families who play the important part of supporting the mission and those that serve, Laughlin continues striving to develop mission-ready, resilient Airmen, leaders and families.
“We need you all to be ready and resilient,” said Col. Tyler Ellison, 47th FTW commander. “You are appreciated and we are very grateful for all that you are doing on a daily basis. Thank you for your sacrifice.”
