The 19th Airlift Wing hosted the semi-annual C-130 Weapons Systems Council (WSC), bringing together total force leaders to address training, fleet readiness and operational challenges across the enterprise at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, Aug. 11, 2026.

The week-long conference featured wing commanders and command chiefs from 19 units across four major commands (MAJCOMs), including 13 wings and one weapons school, providing a forum for leaders to identify challenges, share lessons learned and develop solutions to improve the readiness of the C-130 fleet.

“This event highlights our highly-unified, transparent, and proactive community that takes direct ownership of its challenges, and engages with higher headquarters to offer solutions,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Michael Trimble, 19th Operations Group commander. “By bringing together active duty, guard, and reserve leaders alongside tactical experts, the C-130 community demonstrated an exceptional capacity to rapidly adapt to dynamic global requirements.”

This iteration focused on strengthening the C-130 crew force through improved training and modernization. Leaders discussed pilot training backlogs, experience gaps and ways to reduce administrative requirements that can take time away from aircrew preparation.

The council also focused on standardizing mission-planning tools, tactics, techniques and procedures across the force, promoting C-130 crew integration and interoperability.

“Inter-hub collaboration ensures that C-130 crews from different bases can operate together instantly without regional friction,” said Trimble.

While the council was underway, that integration was demonstrated during a multi-unit, large-formation training flight. Crews from multiple C-130 units applied standardized procedures while operating together, demonstrating how coordination across the enterprise translates into operational capability.

The council also addressed the full spectrum of the C-130 training pipeline, ensuring entry-level and advanced-level training continues to evolve to meet the demands of tactical airlift missions across the globe.

“The WSC offered us a forum to discuss the full range of C-130 instruction and training, from the formal training unit to the weapons school, to ensure the needs of the operational units are being met,” said Col. Nancy Taylor, 314th Airlift Wing commander.

The council concluded with a unified list of action items, assigned responsibilities and timelines to continue addressing challenges between council meetings.

Through continued collaboration, standardization and shared lessons learned, the C-130 Weapons System Council helped maintain a ready force capable of delivering tactical airlift wherever it is needed.
