Goodfellow leadership met with community leaders at Devon Energy to discuss community relations between the city and base, and how both can help each other April 20.

The meeting as part of the Air Force Community Partnership, is held for installations and communities to create the framework and tools needed to develop mutually beneficial partnerships with minimal guidance and oversight, according to Maj. Fred Brooks, AFCP partnership broker.

Since January 2013, the AFCP program has inspired 53 installations and communities to partner across a wide range of initiatives.

During the meeting, leadership discussed past successes such as the Newcomers Orientation tour, the Concho Valley Transit District’s new bus route on base, and the expansion of on-base food options. They also signed new Memorandums of Understanding, covering safety risk reduction programs for all ages and the sharing of vehicles, mechanics and technicians between Goodfellow and San Angelo.

According to Brooks, the AFCP generated $23 million in Air Force benefits and approximated $24 million in community benefits.
