MAJOR GENERAL ARTHUR J. ROONEY JR.

Maj. Gen. Arthur J. Rooney Jr. is Vice Commander, Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass. The center's mission is to acquire command and control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems for the Air Force. The organization comprises more than 12,000 people located at six sites throughout the United States. The men and women of ESC manage more than $3 billion in programs annually in support of the Air Force as well as joint and coalition forces. 

General Rooney was born in Charleston, S.C. He is a distinguished graduate of the ROTC program at Baptist College in Charleston. He has held assignments in the maintenance, logistics and programming fields at squadron, wing, major command, Air Force headquarters and Joint Staff levels. The general has also served in four command assignments, including two as squadron and group commander in Air Mobility Command; one as a wing commander in Air Education and Training Command; and one as Commander of the Air Force Security Assistance Center in Air Force Materiel Command.
