CHARLES G. "CHUCK" CARPENTER

Mr. Charles G. "Chuck" Carpenter is Director, Programs and Resources, North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. He serves as the principal spokesman and advocate for critical capabilities, programs and financial resources required to successfully execute missions spanning the entire North American continent, Caribbean and surrounding littoral waters.

A native of Decatur, Ala., Mr. Carpenter received a degree in education from Athens College, Ala., in 1972. He joined the Air Force in 1974 and received his commission from Officer Training School a year later. In 1978, he earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of North Dakota, and completed a second master's degree in logistics management from Air Force Institute of Technology in Dayton, Ohio. The Society of Logistics Engineers designated him a "Professional Logistician" in 1984.

Mr. Carpenter's career includes serving as an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile launch crewmember and missile maintenance officer, with a tour as a maintenance squadron commander. Additionally, he has experience in all phases of the programs, requirements and resources at major command, headquarters and defense agency levels, as well as having served at a binational command and three unified commands. He retired from active duty in November 2002 as a colonel. Prior to assuming his current position, he was Director, Resource Integration, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt AFB, Neb.
