MAJOR GENERAL PAUL S. DWAN

Maj. Gen. Paul S. Dwan is the Mobilization Assistant to the Surgeon General of the Air Force, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.

General Dwan was commissioned in 1994 and served as an individual mobilization augmentee in the Department of Neurosurgery, David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, Calif. He was also the senior flight surgeon attached to the 79th Air Refueling Squadron at Travis AFB. The general has been an aerospace medicine chief, professional services chief, medical squadron commander and deputy group commander. He has twice been Chief of Aerospace Medicine in Southwest Asia, and served two tours as flight surgeon for the National Science Foundation's mission to Antarctica. From September to December 2009, General Dwan was deployed in support of operation Enduring Freedom as Chief of Neurosurgery, 455th Expeditionary Medical Group, Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan.

Prior to assuming his current position, he was Deputy Joint Staff Surgeon and Special Staff to the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, D.C. He has also served at HQ Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va. In his civilian medical practice he is a neurosurgeon in Santa Monica, Calif.
