MAJOR GENERAL KENNETH D. LEWIS JR.

Maj. Gen. Kenneth D. Lewis Jr. is the Deputy Commander, Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. He is responsible for the daily operations of the command, consisting of approximately 70,000 Citizen Airmen and more than 300 aircraft among three numbered air forces, 33 flying wings, 10 flying groups and one space wing. Air Force Reserve Command supports the Air Force mission to defend the United States through control and exploitation of air, space and cyberspace by supporting global engagement. AFRC plays an integral role in the day-to-day Air Force.

General Lewis began his Air Force career in 1985 after receiving his commission and earning the Distinguished Graduate award through Kansas State University's Air Force ROTC program. He spent 14 years active duty in a variety of assignments to include working as an Engineer, Instructor and Evaluator Pilot, Operations Officer, Flight Examiner, Air Force Liaison Officer and as an Operational-Readiness Planner.

Prior to his current assignment, General Lewis was the Director of Air, Space and Information Operations, Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. His responsibilities included directing Reserve operations for 69 reserve flying units and 10 operational space units gained by eight major commands to fulfill commitments in support of U.S. national objectives. The directorate oversees all Reserve operational assets and capabilities to include tactical fighter, aerial refueling, strategic airlift, special operations, combat rescue, hurricane surveillance, aeromedical evacuation, aerial spray and modular airborne fire-fighting capability. He is a command pilot with more than 4,500 flying hours in the T-37, T-38, KC-135A/R, KC-10, C-5 and C-17.
