MAJOR GENERAL GREGORY J. SCHWAB

Major General Gregory J. Schwab is Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va. In this position he assists the Commander, Air Combat Command, in organizing, training, equipping and maintaining Air Combat Command assigned Air National Guard forces for rapid deployment and employment while ensuring strategic air defense forces are ready to meet the challenges of peacetime air sovereignty and wartime defense. General Schwab also serves as the Air National Guard Director's Liaison to the Air Combat Command Commander.

General Schwab was commissioned in 1972 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. He has served as Commander, 124th Fighter Squadron and 132nd Fighter Wing, both located at the Des Moines Air National Guard Base, Des Moines, Iowa. He also served as Commander, 506th Air Expeditionary Group, Kirkuk, Iraq and as Director of Operations, Iowa Joint Force Headquarters, Iowa Air National Guard. He is a command pilot with more than 4,300 flying hours in the A-7D/K, C-12J, F-16C/D, OV-10, T-37 and T-38 aircraft. He has flown missions in support of operations Provide Comfort, Northern Watch, Southern Watch and Noble Eagle. Prior to his current assignment, General Schwab served as Chief of Air Staff, Iowa National Guard. He assisted the Adjutant General in leading the Iowa National Guard in the accomplishment of their state and federal missions. Major General Schwab is an airline pilot in his civilian career, flying as a Boeing 777 Captain.
