KATHRYN D. LYNNES

Ms. Kathryn D. Lynnes, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the senior remediation program manager with the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Environment, Safety and Infrastructure, Headquarters U.S. Air Force. Lynnes serves as the primary manager supporting the remediation efforts of the Kirtland Air Force Base Bulk Fuel Facility fuel spill. Her duties include evaluating and approving technical solutions, assuring that legal and regulatory obligations are met to bring the project to successful completion. Lynnes represents the Air Force in working with stakeholders including the New Mexico congressional delegation, the governor, the New Mexico Environment Department, the mayor of Albuquerque, county commissioners, the local water authority, civic groups and members of the community.

Lynnes worked as an environmental consultant for private industry and municipal governments for the first 20 years of her career. During this time, she provided regulatory guidance and subject matter expertise in the areas of Superfund, the Resource Conservation Recovery Act, and the Clean Water Act. Since relocating to New Mexico in 2004, Lynnes has worked as a permit writer for the Hazardous Waste Bureau and managed legacy contamination remediation projects in the copper mining industry and at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Lynnes was appointed a Highly Qualified Expert in September 2015.
