DR. MARK H. LINDERMAN

Dr. Mark Linderman, a member of the Scientific and Professional Cadre of Senior Executives, is the Chief Scientist, Information Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Rome, New York. The Information Directorate leads the discovery, development and integration of affordable warfighting information technologies for air, space and cyberspace forces spanning Command and Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Information (C5I). He serves as the directorate's principal scientific and technical adviser and primary authority for the technical content of the science and technology portfolio. He provides principal technical oversight of a broad spectrum of information technologies.

Dr. Linderman joined Rome Laboratory in 1994 after completing his doctorate at Cornell University. Upon joining the laboratory, he applied his VLSI experience to surveillance signal processing architectures. He was the Director of the Information Directorate High Performance Computing Center from 1995 to 2000 where he was active in several projects involving the application of HPCs to signal processing challenges. In 2000, he became the Technical Lead of the AFRL Information Directorate Joint Battlespace Infosphere (JBI) program that addressed a broad spectrum of information management challenges from access control, the role of metadata, dissemination, persistence and destruction of information.  He initiated several projects including the Content- and Context-Aware Trusted Router and OpenPod. Dr. Linderman has been active in the Technical Cooperation Program (TTCP) where he chaired the C3I Group Technical Panel on Information Management from its inception until 2009 and is the national lead for the Cyber Strategic Challenge Group Mission Assurance and Situation Awareness effort. Dr. Linderman holds four U.S. patents.
