  • The 334th Training Squadron used innovation funds to modernize airfield maintenance training through virtual reality equipment.     Funding efficiency across Keesler

    Every year, squadrons from Keesler compete for Squadron Innovation Funds by submitting an application fulfilling requirements to the Innovation Working Group. The funds are provided by the Air Force to support initiatives aimed at mission effectiveness improvements in the areas of innovation, such as modernizing technology and processes. If awarded, squadrons receive the funding in addition to their budget.

    AETC innovators start 2021 with virtual collaboration

    Innovators across The First Command convened virtually for the third AETC iSummit Jan. 21, 2021. The event brought together innovators from more than 130 locations to collaborate, problem solve and learn about the latest innovations happening around the command.

    Fresno State AFROTC wins teaching innovation award, other detachments fighting through COVID-19

    California State University, Fresno selected AFROTC Detachment 035 as the recipient of its fall 2020 Provost’s Award for Extraordinary Teaching in Extraordinary Times in the category of Innovative Teaching. The university announced the award on Dec. 22, 2020.

    Thunderbolt Spark Cell ignites Airmen innovation

    In August 2020, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr., released his strategic approach entitled “Accelerate Change or Lose,” and followed this statement up in December 2020 with action orders that represent his call to Airmen to move forward aggressively in the push toward change “allowing more space for innovation.” Luke Air Force Base answered that call to action with the creation of the Thunderbolt Spark Cell, officially announced January 5, 2021.
  • Scott AFB is one of two test bases that will provide feedback on a new suicide prevention training initiative using a virtual reality-based initiative that Air Mobility Command is testing on behalf of the Air Force.

    Virtual reality brings new dimension to suicide prevention training

    Leaders from across the 375th Air Mobility Wing stepped into a virtual reality-inspired test phase Jan. 12 for a new training effort targeted to help Airmen feel more comfortable about engaging with others to prevent suicide.
