  • Air Force releases cardio and strength fitness assessment alternatives, new online capabilities

    The Air Force will provide Airmen five physical fitness assessment alternatives — three for the cardio portion and sit-up components and two for the push-up component of the physical fitness assessment beginning in early 2022.
  • PT test pushed to July, more updates forthcoming

    When assessments resume, the three-component fitness test (1.5-mile run, 1 minute of push-ups and sit-ups) will be reset with scores calculated on a new three-component scoring table. In addition, work is underway to separate scoring into five-year age groups as opposed to the previous 10 – for example, age groups will start at <25, 25-29 years old, 30-34, years old, etc.
  • Charting history: female pilot reaches 2,000 hours in F-16

    Col. Trena “HaK” Savageau is known for breaking barriers and setting high expectations as the first female commander of the 944th Operations Group at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. On January 13th, she crushed another goal as she flew past her two thousandth flying hour in the F-16C Fighting Falcon and became the first female in the U.S. Air Force Reserve to achieve this milestone.
  • Luke fighter pilot tops 1,000 F-35 flying hours

    Maj. Nicholas “JAKAL” Rallo, an instructor pilot with the 944th Fighter Wing, became the first Luke Air Force Base F-35 Lightning II pilot to attain 1,000 F-35 flying hours here, February 22, 2021.
  • Key Spouse Program provides critical support to families

    An elite team of volunteers serve as a communication link between the wing commander and Luke Air Force Base families. They are known as key spouses. “The Key Spouse Program is a peer-to-peer support program and a way for spouses to volunteer,” said Jessica Maldonado, 944th Fighter Wing Airman and Family Readiness director. “Key spouses are appointed by the wing commander to come alongside military members and leaders to provide support to families, particularly the spouses.”
