JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-Randolph, Texas -- Air Education and Training Command’s Squadron Leadership Course has met the academic requirements for inclusion in the 2023 Air University catalog and has instituted the awarding of digital badges for course completion.
Once published, the course will appear in the learning record for commanders and senior enlisted leaders who have attended and completed the course. The learning record is an individual, digital portfolio that consolidates and displays learning-specific information, such as education, training and experiences spanning an Airman’s career.
“This initiative ties directly into our efforts to implement data strategy and standards that integrate DAF learning and talent management to align with DoD systems,” said Lt. Gen. Brian Robinson, AETC commander. “This effort is a great example of how the command is working to provide digital-age training, education and development to produce the most competitive Airmen possible.”
The five-day course provides newly selected command teams, which include commanders, senior enlisted leaders and spouses with the tools and resources for a successful command tour. This course is focused on empowering command teams to enhance leadership skills, develop multi-capable Airmen, foster resource management, cultivate unit improvement, promote/safeguard unit morale, encourage physical well-being and increase quality of life for Airmen and their families.
Additionally, attendees now receive a digital “badge”, a form of digital credentialing, to recognize the course’s 40 hours of instruction through https://daf.badgr.com <https://daf.badgr.com> . Badges are portable, transferable, validated representations of training, experiences, credentials, licenses, certifications, competencies, observable behaviors, knowledge, abilities, awards and any other achievement attained by an earner.
“Badges are used by the military, business industry and academia to highlight marketable skills and experience, and to recognize the development of foundational skills, “said Jason Grove, AETC force development credentialing chief. “Digital credentials empower individuals to take their learning with them wherever they go during their lifelong learning journey.”
